Cecil Lowe 08-D4, 90yrs old.jpg (115193 bytes)

This picture was taken at our November 6, 2010 District 4 in Lexington, NC just 2 days before 92 year old Cecil Lowe passed Monday, November 8, 2010. Cecil was one of the original trust fund principals, a Life-Time ACF and NCCA Member, and President of NCCA. He loved checkers and promoted our NC tournaments. We elected Cecil to lead our organization on July 3, 1987 at the state tournament business meeting in Raleigh. He held this office until his death,Clint Pickard & Cecil Lowe receive awards-2008 NC Open.jpg (210976 bytes) serving continuously for 23 years. Cecil was a tremendous help and influence to me concerning NC Checkers.  Cecil had been previously honored for a lifetime of dedication and support of checkers, and as an active NC tournament promoter at the 2008 State Tournament in Albemarle.  It was a well-deserved honor.  He was a very active tournament player with an ACF & WCDF rating of 1886 in 2009.  He was our North Carolina Checker Ambassador!
